Brecktoberfest brings Munich to the mountains with German-inspired beer festival.
While the world’s largest Oktoberfest is still on hold in Munich this year due to COVID, visitors to Breckenridge this fall will be able to enjoy a taste of the world’s largest folk festival at a downsized Oktoberfest-themed Brecktoberfest amid the backdrop of the Tenmile Mountain Range.
Breckenridge brings the German beer-centric festival to the Rockies September 24 – 26, but this year’s event will require a ticket to enter. Visitors with tickets — available now at GoBreck.com — can tighten up their lederhosen and drink fall-themed craft beer from throughout the state.
“Tickets to Brecktoberfest include a reserved three-hour session, one half-liter stein, and two beer tokens. Unlike in years past when historic Main Street played host to a street party, Brecktoberfest will be a more intimate experience featuring fall-themed beers from around Colorado at the Riverwalk Center and requires a ticket to enter,” says Austyn Dineen, public relations director for the Breckenridge Tourism Office.
In many ways, the more exclusive set up of this year’s festival more closely resembles Oktoberfest in Munich. With two entry times per day, beer lovers can chicken dance to the music of the Polkanauts, drink enough fall-themed beer to yell Prost!, and wolf down some Oktoberfest-themed culinary delights.
Even though the Brecktoberfest is a 21-and-over event, a free Fall Family Fair in Breckenridge’s award-winning arts district will let families celebrate fall with activities like pumpkin carving, music on the new Breck Music AirStage, carnival games, and more. During the weekend, Breckenridge’s restaurants and chefs will create their own culinary Oktoberfest-themed celebration throughout the town with Oktober-FEAST.
