The country music superstar and “Ultimate Cowboy Showdown” host has saddled up for a second season of the INSP competition series.
Trace Adkins is back — and C&I has him.
The multi-platinum-selling country music star, occasional character actor and charismatic TV host will return at 9 pm ET Feb. 24 to the INSP channel for a second season of Ultimate Cowboy Showdown, the popular competition series in which real-life cowboy contestants vie for a hefty prize package and a lifetime of bragging rights.
And this is no brag, just fact: Adkins will join us for a Facebook chat at 11 am ET/10 am CT Wednesday, Feb. 24, that can be viewed live on the C&I Facebook page, as well as the INSP, Ultimate Cowboy, and Trace Adkins FB pages. He’ll be talking with us about his experiences as host and judge for the INSP cowboy competition series — and other aspects of his multifaceted career. (Don’t be surprised if he gets at least one query about his memorable cameo role in the award-winning western Badland.)
What can viewers expect in Season 2 of Ultimate Cowboy Showdown? According to INSP, “Fourteen strong-willed cowboys head to a sweltering Texas ranch to prove they can out-cowboy the competition. The contestants lock horns in a number of grueling challenges, with Trace and a panel of experts judging their skills, knowledge, grit, and passion. Competing to win it all is a group of men and women from all across the nation with diverse backgrounds, including a world-renowned horse trainer, an eight-time US team roping champion, and a professional bull rider, to name a few. Full of explosive drama, and lots of ego, the pressure is on for the cowboys to prove they have what it takes. One by one, the contestant that can’t stack up to the challenge hits the trail and heads home until only one stands, winning the prize of a lifetime.”
Craig Miller, VP of Original Programming & Development for INSP, is happy to have Adkins back in the saddle for another round of competitive roping and riding.
“Our viewers really embraced the first season of Ultimate Cowboy Showdown,” said Miller. “They immediately connected with the real-life cowboy contestants and picked the ones they wanted to root for and against. We decided this second season needed to be even bigger, so we filmed it in Texas, where everything is bigger. We added more episodes, more challenges, more contestants, and more prizes. Viewers are going to love seeing this incredibly talented and diverse cast of veteran cowboys as they lock horns.”
Miller praised Adkins as “a Louisiana native with a profound appreciation for what it takes to be a cowboy. He enjoys riding alongside these rough and tough wranglers to challenge their skills and cowboy code character. Then, as host and deciding judge, the cowboys must face Trace each week for an elimination round. Any cowboy who fails to perform to Trace’s expectations will be told to ‘hit the trail’. So, things get intense quickly, as no one wants to end up on Trace Adkins’ bad side!”
