The cavalcade of year-end honors for movies and TV continues apace. On Monday morning, Martin Scorsese’s epic drama Killers of the Flower Moon scored a total of seven film category nominations from voters for the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards.
In the television category, 1923 and lead player Helen Mirren received Golden Globe nominations for Best Television Series — Drama and Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series — Drama, while David Oyelowo of Lawmen: Bass Reeves was named a finalist among competitors for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television.
Killers of the Flower Moon is up for Best Motion Picture, Drama; Best Director, Motion Picture (Scorsese); Best Screenplay, Motion Picture (Scorsese, Eric Roth); Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama (Leonardo Di Caprio); Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama (Lily Gladstone); Best Supporting Actor, Motion Picture (Robert De Niro); and Best Original Score, Motion Picture (Robbie Robertson).
Also worth noting: In the Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television category, nominations went to Fargo and lead players Jon Hamm (Best Actor) and Juno Temple (Best Actress).
Winners will be announced Jan. 7 during the Golden Globe Awards ceremony that will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+ and the CBS app. And remember: Winners of film category Golden Globes usually — though not always — go on to be prime contenders for Academy Awards. Oscar nominations are scheduled to be announced Jan. 23; the Oscarcast will air March 10 on ABC.
