This Halloween, ensure you’re ready to pair your favorite candy with an adult beverage.
We love all the tricks and treats of the Halloween season, but our favorite may be the candy itself. But, we wondered how we could make the treats more adult this year. So, we decided to put together a pairing guide for the adults who decide they want a sweet treat and a good drink.
Reese’s and Whiskey
Whether you find the traditional Reese’s cups or their cousin Reese’s pieces, pair them with a good glass of whiskey. The nutty and smooth whiskey flavors perfectly complement the chocolate and peanut butter candy.
Skittles/Starbursts and Sour Beer
If you are not a chocolate fan, Skittles, Starbursts, and other fruity candy pair best with a fruity sour beer. The fruit flavors mirror nicely, and the sour balances the sweetness of the candy.
Candy Corn and Dark Beer
If you are one of the select few people who actually likes candy corn, first, we applaud you; it is not an easy task. Second, we promise a dark beer like a porter, stout, or pumpkin beer will elevate this traditional Halloween candy to another level and make you appreciate it even more.
Snickers and Chardonnay
We don’t completely understand how this pairing works, but it does, trust us. If you are a Snickers bar fan, the nougat, peanut, caramel, and chocolate all add up to balance with a buttery Chardonnay.
M&Ms/Hershey Bars and Pinot Noir
Chocolate and wine may be the most obvious pairing, but it is also the most delicious. So pick your favorite Pinot Noir or Merlot to drink while you enjoy melt-in-your-mouth chocolate.
Happy Halloween, y'all! And enjoy your sugar rush!
