In 1909 three grandsons of an English weaver bought Pendleton Woolen Mills and built a new, more efficient plant, which quickly became known for its high-quality striped, plaid, and geometrically patterned Indian trade blankets. By 1930, Pendleton had taken over that market. Its blankets had become prized possessions on Indian reservations, and that hasn't changed over the years.
